HAFLONG, Nov 27: Celebrations for Guru Nanak Jayanti, also known as Guru Nanak Gurpurab or Guru Nanak’s Prakash Utsav, were carried out with great fervour in Haflong, the headquarters of Dima Hasao district. Guru Nanak Jayanti commemorates the birth of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak, and is among the most sacred festivals in Sikhism.
The Sikh community marked this significant day with a day-long program at the Haflong Gurdwara. The festivities kicked off with prayers, Kirtan, and ardas, drawing members from the Sikh and other communities to the Gurdwara for the celebratory event. The occasion was not only marked by spiritual activities but also included the provision of guru ka langar (free kitchen) for all attendees.

On this auspicious occasion, Nirmal Singh, secretary of Sri Gurdwara Singh Sabha Haflong, along with the Sikh community in Haflong, extended their warm wishes and messages of peace, brotherhood, and prosperity to all communities and tribes residing in the Dima Hasao district. The presence of a large number of people from various communities added to the joyous atmosphere of the celebration.
