DC Madhumita Bhagawati Reveals Electoral Roll Draft In Karbi Anglong, Invites Claims Until January 8, 2024

DIPHU, Dec 8: The deputy commissioner (DC) of Karbi Anglong, Madhumita Bhagawati, briefed the media on the draft publication of the electoral roll of Karbi Anglong district on Friday.

 

During a press conference held at the DC conference hall, the DC informed that the period for filling up claims and objections is from December 8 to January 8, 2024.

“If there are any claims and objections, concerned citizens can visit the election branch at the DC office or approach BLOs. For filing claims and objections, one can use Form 6 (Additional) and Form -7 for deletion, while Form 6B is for authentication of EPIC, and Form -8 for correction, lost EPIC, marking of PwD, and shifting. People can also submit claims and objections by filling out forms online at https://voters.eci.gov.in/portal or ERONET in the office,” the DC stated.

 

The DC also mentioned that, according to the draft electoral roll, the total number of voters in the district is 553,165 (Bokajan – 154,676, Howraghat – 157,545, and Diphu – 240,944), adding, “There is a 10 percent increase in voters in the district, which is an encouraging sign as young voters can exercise their franchise. After the rationalization of polling stations in the post-delimitation period, the total number of polling stations in the whole district is 651 (Bokajan – 203, Howraghat – 22, and Diphu – 226).”

The DC said the delimitation process was based on development block boundaries, and there have been slight changes in boundaries.

 

“Fourteen polling stations from Bokajan LA went to Howraghat LA, whereas six polling stations from Howraghat LA went to Diphu LA,” the DC added.

 

He also informed that the publication of the integrated and amalgamated draft roll will be on December 8, 2023; the period for filing claims and objections is from December 8, 2023, to January 8, 2024; the disposal of claims and objections is from December 16, 2023, to January 22, 2024, and the final publication of the electoral roll will be on February 8, 2024.

 

Election Officer, Karbi Anglong, Bruhid Rabha, and ADC, David Borawas were also present.
