KASA stadium venue for Khelo India Girls League (U13) inaugurated

DIPHU, Dec 23: Khelo India Girls League (KIGL) for Under- 13, Karbi Anglong Sports Association (KASA) stadium venue was kicked off in Karbi Anglong. The KIGL is organised by All India Football Federation (AIFF) in association with Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India. It is SAI’s flagship scheme to scout and nurture grassroots level sports talent exclusively for the girl child.

The KIGL has been prepared with a view to give impetus to girls to join sport at the grassroots level and consequently groom them to excel in it. To ensure that grassroot- level talent can be identified through KIGL. The better ranked teams from each state will then compete nationally, thus throwing up national-level teams and athletes.

In Assam the KIGL is organised jointly by AIFA and Assam Football Association (AFA) and has chosen four venues i.e. KASA, Morigaon, Kokrajhar and Chirang.

At KASA stadium the KIGL was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Executive Member (Dy.CEM) of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Gobinda Chandra Basumatary and was joined by Governing Body member of AFA, Pronil Basumatary; KASA general secretary and joint secretary, AFA, Dr. Pankaj Teron and District Sports Officer, Rilip Ronghang.

At KASA venue there are six teams for KIGL playing; KASA Football Coaching Centre, KASA Girls FC, A1 Football Academy, Richohidi Football Academy, Langhin Tiniali Sports Association and Sonari Town Club.

In the first day, league matches KASAFCC lost to Sinari TC by 3-11, while in the second match Langhin Tiniali SA won by 4-0 against Richohidi FA and in the third match A1 FA won against KASA Girls FC by 9-0. In the fourth match played Richohidi FA lost to KASAFCC by 0-15, while in the fifth match played between KASAFCC and Sonari TC the former has lost to the latter by 0-15 and in the last match of the day was a draw of 1-1 between A1 FA and Langhin Tiniali SA. The next league matches will be played on December 29.
