DIPHU, May 26: A business man of Diphu town, Bipin Kumar Choudhary is standing as an independent candidate from Lumbajong Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) constituency in the ensuing MAC election of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC).
Choudhary is a popular name in the business circle in Diphu. His family is engaged in various types of businesses including furniture, bus services, tire, batteries and petrol pumps in Karbi Anglong.
Choudhary also runs a business firm as Family and Choudhary Transit Services Pvt. Ltd. (FACTS). He is also a business consultant.
When asked as to what inspired him to contest the election, Choudhary said he wanted to work for the development of the business community and for the betterment of those persons working in business units.
“My slogan for the election is ‘Give one chance then see my work.’ My concern is to give employment opportunities to locals in business units and women empowerment. I will try to give employment to 60 percent women and 40 percent to men in the business sector,” Choudhary said.
He also said, “Politics is in my blood. I came here from Sitamarhi district of Bihar without money in 1992, but now I am fully devoted to work for the betterment of society.”
Choudhary, expressing his confidence of winning the election said, “Every person knows me as ‘Choudhary’ and I have confidence that the voters of Diphu town and rural areas will vote for me.”
Choudhary has opened his election monitoring office at his business opposite the Members Hostel.
He is contesting the election with the symbol of a tiger. “The campaigning will start from Friday with road shows and canvassing,” he said.
