Kokrajhar hosts memorial lecture honouring Ranjit Kumar Borgoyary

KOKRAJHAR, Feb 19: A deeply resonant memorial lecture honouring the esteemed social activist and former president of All Assam Tribal Sangha (AATS), late Ranjit Kumar Borgoyary, reverberated through the halls of MMB Memorial Hall in Kokrajhar Government College on Sunday, drawing a large and diverse audience.

The event, organised by the civil society of greater Kokrajhar with unwavering support from Bodo social organisations, served as a poignant tribute to the enduring legacy of the late leader, Ranjit Kumar Borgoyary.

Inaugurating the program amidst a gathering of esteemed seniors and dignitaries, state cabinet minister and Sahitya Akademi Award winner, Urkhao Gwra Brahma, underscored the immense contributions of late Borgoyary in uplifting the Bodo and tribal communities of Assam. He hailed Borgoyary as a multifaceted personality, highlighting his pivotal role as the chairman of ABSU’s constitution drafting committee and the architect behind ABSU’s emblem.

The occasion also witnessed the release of a commemorative souvenir titled ‘Haribwdwr: Ranjit Kumar Borgoyary’, serving as a testament to his dedicated service and unwavering commitment to the well-being of the Bodos and other tribal peoples.

A lecture delving into the life and achievements of late Ranjit Kumar Borgoyary ensued, featuring heartfelt reflections from his closest friend and president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Dr Surath Narzary, along with contributions from Aditya Kakhlary, the general secretary of All Assam Tribal Sangha, and Pandav Rabha, an adviser of Tribal Sangha.

The event drew a distinguished gathering of intellectuals and leaders from various organisations, including Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Tribal Sangha, ABSU, Bodo Samaj, Harimu Afad, and Bathou Gouthum, who paid their respects through floral tributes and shared poignant memories of the late leader.

As the community came together to honour the memory of late Ranjit Kumar Borgoyary, his profound impact on the socio-cultural landscape of Assam resonated deeply, serving as a beacon of inspiration for generations to come.
