SIVASAGAR, Feb 19: Laksminath Bezbaruah Sishu Bhawan, nestled in the heart of Mandir Town in Sivasagar, has etched its name in the annals of Assam’s educational history with a remarkable achievement. The government-run primary school has become a beacon of excellence, drawing unprecedented attention from guardians across the state.
On Monday, it was the distribution day for admission forms into KG 1, the pre-primary stage, and witnessed a scene unlike any other in Assam. Parents flocked to the school gates in droves, eager to secure a coveted spot for their children in this ‘A+’ category Assamese medium primary school. The rush began as soon as the notice was posted on Saturday morning, with a continuous stream of guardians braving the biting cold and harsh winds to await their turn.
Such was the fervour among the parents that many spent two days and nights camped out on Boarding Road near the school gate, taking turns with their spouses to maintain their position in the lengthy queue. Undeterred by the challenges, they even cooked their meals on-site, showcasing the unwavering dedication of the new generation of parents towards their children’s education.
Ranjit Chutia, the distinguished recipient of the Teacher Award and the headmaster of the school, shared that a staggering 122 admission forms were distributed amidst the overwhelming demand from guardians. The admission process for new students is scheduled for February 22, coinciding with the distribution of forms for KG 2.
During a recent visit to the 35-year-old institution, the Education minister allocated a grant of Rs 51,70,000 for the construction of a new double-story building, currently underway. Once completed, this infrastructure upgrade will provide much-needed space for the students, alleviating the cramped conditions of the current campus.
With a consistent track record of achieving the ‘A+’ category in Gunotsav since 2017, Laksminath Bezbaruah Sishu Bhawan stands as a shining example of educational excellence, nurturing the minds of tomorrow’s leaders with dedication and distinction.
