MORIGAON, March 10: To encourage and empower women, Morigaon Nehru Yuva Kendra, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, organised a Women’s Empowerment Race on Saturday, coinciding with International Women’s Day. The event was organised by Prakritipremi Manch Assam in collaboration with Tarani Kalbari LP School ground under Bhurbandha Development Block, Manikanchan Yoga Sports Association in collaboration with Jagi Higher Secondary School ground in Mayang Development, Nataraj Dance Academy in collaboration with Jajari Anant Primary School ground in Dalanghat Development, Nurul Amin Ground in Moirabari, Dhingariati Amarjyoti Club of Laharighat Development, and Taj Mahal Mahila Mandal of Kapili Development.
The event saw participation from over fifty women and youth from each development sector, and more than five hundred women from across Morigaon district. Following the Women’s Empowerment Race, the first, second, and third place winners were awarded t-shirts, caps, wristbands, and coffee cups with the My Bharat logo.
The event was graced by the presence of Morigaon Nehru Yuva Kendra district youth officer Bikash Chandra Pradhan, accountant, and program officer Dhananjay Talukdar.
