Historic election marks new era for Sikh Pratinidhi Board Eastern Zone, Dhubri

GUWAHATI, March 11: Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Dhubri Saheb ji is a historical Gurdwara where Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib ji visited and is run by Sikh Pratinidhi Board Eastern Zone (SPBEZ), Dhubri consisting of 40 Gurdwara Prabhandak Committees from the northeastern region including nearby areas like Siliguri and Cooch Bihar.

In the history of Sikh Pratinidhi Board Eastern Zone (SPBEZ), Dhubri, elections were held on March 9, 2024 for the first time, consisting of the electoral roll of Gurdwara Prabhandak Committees. The shift in paradigm from selection to election is a milestone in the history of Sikh Pratinidhi Board Eastern Zone, Dhubri, as the process of election was undertaken for the first time to ensure free, fair, peaceful, and transparent election. After the due process of filing nominations, scrutiny of nominations, preparation of the list of valid nominated candidates, withdrawal of candidature, and publication of the list of contesting candidates for the post of president and general secretary, both the candidates for the post were declared unanimously elected uncontested. Sardar Daljit Singh from Guwahati as president (pradhan) and Sardar Rajgurmeet Singh as general secretary. Sardar Daljit Singh ji, president, and Sardar Rajgurmeet Singh ji, general secretary, thanked the entire Sadh Sangat for the trust shown and at the same time expressed to work for building brotherhood among the society and work for spreading Sikhism and imbibing the principles of Sikhism with a special thrust on the younger generation. They also expressed gratitude for the kind help and guidance of the district administration, Dhubri, forwarded in ensuring free, fair, peaceful, and transparent elections.
