KOKRAJHAR, Feb 5: The district-level Khel Maharan 2.0 commenced on Wednesday at Kokrajhar with enthusiastic participation from athletes across the entire district with a two-day event.
The BTC executive member for the sports & youth welfare department, Daobaisa Boro inaugurated the event in the presence of Kokrajhar District Commissioner, Masanda Magdalin Pertin, and other sports officials.
More than 1000 participants from five LACs – Kokrajhar, Dotma, Gossaigaon Baokhungri and Parbhatjhora are competing in a diverse range of sports, including athletics, kabaddi, volleyball, football, chess, etc.
The Khel Maharan 2.0 has been aimed at promoting grassroots sports and providing a platform for young athletes to showcase their talent. The competition is expected to bring forth emerging talents from the district. EM Boro said that the Khel Maharan is a sporting event where people cutting across the communities are participating. He said, “The event received a good response from the participants across the region. The enthusiastic sports event is organised to hunt sporting talents amongst the citizens in the state.”
