KOKRAJHAR, June 12: UPPL-BJP-GSP alliance party’s candidate Mantu Boro won the No. 22 Koklabari constituency (ST) by-poll defeating his nearest contestant Shangkhar Basumatary of Opposition BPF party in a margin of 16,346 votes.
Boro got 32,571 votes while Opposition BPF party’s candidate Shangkhar Basumatary could secure 16,225 votes.
The by-poll was necessitated after UPPL president Pramod Boro won both Goibari and Koklabari seats in the 2020 BTC polls and vacated one of the constituencies.
A former ABSU leader, Mantu Boro, later extended his gratitude to all the leaders, members and supporters of alliance parties for the support he received.
He assured that he would dedicate himself for the uplift and all round development of the citizens in the constituency.
BTR CEM and UPPL president Pramod Boro congratulated Boro on his victory.
