DIPHU, May 14: The United Christian Forum (UCF) has raised concerns over what they describe as the “unprecedented random collection of data” by police personnel regarding Churches and their adherents in the districts of Diphu and Dokmoka in Karbi Anglong.
In a memorandum submitted to the district commissioner, Madhumita Bhagwati, the UCF highlighted the distress caused by the sudden intrusion of police personnel into Church premises without prior notice or official instructions.

According to the memorandum submitted by UCF president Rev. Dr Solomon Rongpi and secretary Rev. Primingson Millick, police officers have been entering Churches, taking photographs, and posing inquiries without any formal notification.
“This intrusive behavior has not only caused panic among believers but has also raised concerns about the sanctity of places of worship,” the memorandum read.
Rev. Dr. Rongpi emphasised the necessity of prior intimation and official orders before any data collection process within Church premises.
“If any information or data is required, there should be a written intimation, and only then can the Church authority provide what is sought for,” he stated.
The UCF has urged the district commissioner to intervene and halt such actions by the concerned authorities to maintain public peace and respect the sanctity of places of worship.
