High Court of Meghalaya issues notice to govt on upper age limit row

GUWAHATI, May 18: Acting on a writ petition the High Court of Meghalaya on Friday issued notices to the state government and other concerned authorities to reply on the matter of alleged irregularities in the upper age limit set for recruitment in Meghalaya Police.

According to reports, a writ petition has been filed in the High Court of Meghalaya by a group of youth led by activist Barilang Pyngrope.

Acting on the writ petition the High Court on Friday heard L Nghaka, the counsel for the petitioners, and respective notices were issued.

The government advocate ZE Nongkynrih accepted the notice on behalf of all the respondents.

The next hearing for interim prayer on the matter has been listed for May 23, the court said in its order.
