NAGAON, June 11: A skill development programme on assistant electrician activity, sponsored by NABARD, Assam Regional Office, Guwahati, is being conducted at the Dalmia Institute of Knowledge and Skill Harnessing, run by Dalmia Bharat Foundation at Lanka in Hojai district. The training programme was inaugurated on Monday by additional district commissioner Saptati Endow. Rajendra Perna, DDM NABARD, attended the inaugural session as a special guest.
In her inaugural speech, ADC Endow urged all participants to excel, stating that the demand for professionally trained electricians in the state is high, especially with the proposed semiconductor unit by the TATA group at Jagiroad in Morigaon district, which will create significant opportunities for unemployed youths. She thanked the officials of NABARD Assam for their pragmatic approach in conducting such programmes in remote rural areas like Lanka and appealed for more skill development programmes in the district in the coming years.

Addressing the occasion, Rajendra Perna, DDM, NABARD, shared information about NABARD’s ongoing initiatives to promote skill-building and entrepreneurship in rural areas through various programmes. He encouraged participants to learn and practice extensively to hone their skills under the guidance of expert resource personnel.
It is reported that the participants will receive extensive training for over 400 hours.
