June 26 declared paid holiday in Nagaland

KOHIMA, June 23: In view of the forthcoming municipal and town council elections in Nagaland, the state labour department as empowered under Section 10 (2), 11(3) of the Nagaland Shop and Establishment Act, 1986, and under Section 80(1) of the Factories Act, 1948, has declared June 26 as paid holiday for all the workers engaged in commercial and industrial establishments in the state in order to help them to exercise their right to franchise.

Hence, all the employers and occupiers of the commercial and industrial establishments in the state are directed to pay wage at a rate equal to the daily average of his/her total full time earning for the day for which paid leave is declared. No deduction what so ever, would be made from the wage of any worker falling under the specified category, it added. (NNN)
