MP Rwngwra Narzary invites President Murmu to Durand Cup closing ceremony

KOKRAJHAR, July 18: Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) Rwngwra Narzary called on President of India, Draupadi Murmu, on Thursday to invite Her Excellency to grace the closing ceremony of the Kokrajhar leg of the 133rd edition of the Durand Cup 2024.

MP Narzary reached Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi on Thursday morning and extended the invitation on behalf of the chief executive member (CEM) of Bodoland Territorial Region, Pramod Boro. The closing ceremony is scheduled to be held on August 21 at SAI Stadium in Kokrajhar.

Notably, Asia’s oldest and most prestigious football tournament, the Durand Cup, is set to be held once again in Kokrajhar, the ‘City of Peace’, from July 30 to August 21, 2024.

During the meeting, MP Narzary discussed various issues and handed over the invitation letter to President Murmu on behalf of Pramod Boro, CEM of BTR, inviting her to grace the closing ceremony of the Durand Cup’s Kokrajhar leg.
