31st Bn SSB concludes plantation drives in Gossaigaon

GOSSAIGAON, Aug 18: The 31st Battalion of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Gossaigaon, under the banners of ‘Amrit Brikshya Andolan’ and ‘Ek Vriksh Man Ke Naam’, successfully concluded a series of impactful plantation drives from August 1 to 15.

The plantation drive, organised under the guidance of Chiranjib Bhattacharjee, commandant of the 31st Bn. SSB Gossaigaon, aimed to improve the local environment and served as an educational experience for students, raising awareness about the importance of trees and environmental sustainability.

Speaking on the occasion, commandant Chiranjib Bhattacharjee emphasised the initiative undertaken by the 31st Bn SSB is a commendable example of community involvement in environmental conservation. The drive brought together students, school staff, and SSB personnel to contribute to creating a greener and more serene environment in the near future.

Commandant Bhattacharjee also highlighted that these programs are part of a broader commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement. The goal is to significantly enhance green cover, promote ecological balance, and foster a sense of responsibility towards nature among individuals and communities.

The plantation drive saw enthusiastic participation from various dignitaries, including SS Raina, commandant (medical); Dr Bhubaneswar Saikia, superintendent of Kokrajhar Medical College and Hospital (KMCH); Dr Bhaskar Barua, head of the department of Medicine, KMCH; Dr Amit Mushary (KMCH); Dr Biswajit Bora (KMCH); Dr Muzaharul Islam (KVK); Dr Sunil Paul (KVK); Deepak Basumatary, deputy ranger; deputy commandants Suresh Dighade, LN Singh, and Pranav Shukla; assistant commandant Ranjit Kumar; teachers from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Telipada, Bhomrabil ME & High School, St Anthony’s English Medium School, and many others.

The plantation drive witnessed active participation from personnel of the 31st Bn SSB, students, and staff from various institutions, who contributed enthusiastically to the cause.
