MORIGAON, July 3: The Assistant Director of Jute Development under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, A Ansari, visited various agricultural sites in Morigaon district on Thursday to review the implementation of key schemes.
During the inspection, the official reviewed the progress of the National Food Security Mission (NFSM-CC_JUTE) and the Agricultural Mepar app under the Kharif Weather 2025–26 initiatives.
He was accompanied by Dr Arunima Dev Chowdhury, State Advisor of the National Food Security Mission.
The visit began at Garaimari under the Rajamayang agriculture circle, where the officer inspected the NJ-7010 (Rani) variety of improved jute cultivated under the Food and Nutrition Scheme led by the Garaimari Farmer Producer Company for 2024–25.
Interacting with farmers, he discussed issues related to production, marketing, and the timely receipt of scheme benefits.
Improved Rice-1 variety paddy seeds were also distributed among farmer group members during the visit to ensure ease of access to benefits under departmental schemes.
The Assistant Director also inspected cotton cultivation undertaken by Rafiqul Islam, a progressive farmer from Charaihagi under the Morigaon Agricultural Circle.
He was accompanied by Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer Mehedi Hussain and Agriculture Sub-Inspector Dibyajyoti Hazarika.
