Mumbai, Sept 11: Actor Krithi Shetty, who made a brief appearance in the Hrithik Roshan-starrer “Super 30”, says she is open to starring in more Hindi films as she is comfortable with the language. The actor, who was born and raised in Mumbai, played an unnamed character in the 2019 Hindi film. Two years later, she forayed into the South movie industry with the Telugu film “Uppena”.
Since then she has acted in Tamil films “The Warrior” and “Custody” and is awaiting the release of her debut Malayalam movie “ARM”, fronted by Tovino Thomas.
“I don’t think it (‘Super 30′) was even a role, I was just there in the crowd. I was born and brought up in Mumbai, so Hindi is the most comfortable language for me.
“Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam languages are something that I didn’t know when I worked in those films. So, Hindi will be organic. It would be a fun experience performance wise. So, I’m excited and open to it (Hindi films)” Shetty told PTI. “ARM” is a pan-India fantasy drama that will hit the big screen on September 12 in Malayalam, Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. Working in a Malayalam-language film was a “warm and inspiring” experience for Shetty.
“In Malayalam cinema, it is all about being raw, authentic and organic in terms of performance. I was a little nervous because I was doing this for the first time. I’ve had good guidance. “One thing that I always aspired to be as an actor: I wanted to be raw, authentic and minute, but everywhere you get that space to do it. So, here (‘ARM’) I had the right space.” Billed as a visual spectacle with a compelling story, “ARM” is directed by first-time filmmaker Jithin Lal and written by Sujith Nambiar. Set in northern Kerala across three timelines of 1900, 1950 and 1990, the film will see Thomas play the characters of Maniyan, Kunjikkelu, and Ajayan, each trying to protect a treasure of land through different generations.
