DIPHU, July 7: The BJYM-East Karbi Anglong District Committee headed by its president Giten Bey, vice president Rukasen Engleng and general secretary Joya Jigdung distributed ration and other relief materials to the 11 families camping at Thesoajur community hall, Lumding Road, as they were evicted from District Judicial Court complex, Rongpangthir, Lumding Road on July 2.
As per court order, the 25 bighas land allotted to District Judicial Court for construction of the court complex carried out an eviction drive on July 2 to clear the land from land encroachers. There were 35 families settled in the land when eviction was taken up.

Bey told the villagers that the chief executive member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang has assured to provide rehabilitation to the 11 landless families by providing them land to settle at Baliram Terang village, Lumding Road.
“We have to comply with the order of the High Court for which eviction was carried out. But on one hand we need to appreciate our CEM Tuliram Ronghang as he has assured us to provide land for settlement. The CEM has also assured you to provide tin sheets and Rs 1 lakh to each family for construction of houses and ringwell,” Bey said.
Court complex is necessary here as common people cannot go to Nagaon or Guwahati to settle a case. The families should not be saddened as the CEM has assured to provide all help to rebuild their houses at the rehabilitation site, Bey said.
He also informed that the Lumbajong local Member of Autonomous Council (MAC), Johnny Timung has already inspected the site and has assured the 11 landless families that they will be rehabilitated soon.
