JORHAT, Oct 16: A person with five kilograms of dry pangolin scales was apprehended by Forest Department personnel with support from the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau from a location along the historic Dhodar Ali in Mariani under the Titabar co-district of Jorhat district on Tuesday.
According to a source, legal action under the relevant sections of the Wildlife Protection Act was initiated against Sagar Nayak (46), an employee in the health section of a tea garden in Mariani. Information regarding illegal wildlife trade was reportedly found on Nayak’s mobile phone.
The source stated that the scales were likely to be from over 10 pangolins.
