SIVASAGAR, Nov 10: The All Assam United Brahmin Consortium (Sadou Asom Sanmilita Brahmin Parishad) will hold its first convention on December 1 at the Amolapatty Hindu Dharma Namghar premises in Sivasagar. This decision was taken in a meeting held in October. The executive meeting, convened on Saturday at the residence of Arabinda Baruah, discussed the details of organising the conference. The meeting, presided over by Manoj Kr Borthakur, also condoled the death of one of its members, Saharan Sharma.

Ananga Mohan Sarma, adviser to AAUBC, stated that a conference is necessary to address the plight of Brahmins in Assam and elsewhere amid the current socio-political climate. Noted playwright Debabrat Borthakur condemned the trend of Brahmin baiting on social media, remarking that it benefits no one. Umesh Changkakoty emphasised that the Brahmin consortium is not against any community or ethnic group but represents a modest attempt to unify the Brahmins. The meeting was unanimous in its view that Brahmin baiting began long ago as a planned strategy by Western faiths to weaken Hinduism.

The meeting nominated Bina Goswami as the chief convenor of the Sadou Asom Sanmilita Brahmin Mohila Parishad, the proposed sister unit of the AAUBC. In his speech, Borthakur urged everyone to cooperate wholeheartedly to ensure the success of the convention.
