JORHAT, Dec 17: A 10-day cleanliness and beautification drive in the Bhogdoi river that flows through Jorhat town has been undertaken by the Civil Defence branch of the district administration under the aegis of the district administration.
A district administration official informed that the drive was launched on Monday at the Puja Dubi Ghat here in the presence of the Jorhat MLA Hitendra Nath Goswami, Jorhat district commissioner Jay Shivani and district administration and Civil Defence officials, Jorhat Municipal Board (JMB) chairperson Lakhimi Khargharia, noted social workers Dr Balin Khargharia, also a retired Joint Director of Health Service, Nirod Chankakati, also a former JMB ward commissioner and Jorhat College (Amalgamated) principal Dr Soumitra Puzari.
