Leaders of BTR-KAAC urge centre for implementation of accord clauses 

CEMs Boro, Ronghang led the delegation to meet Union ministers

KOKRAJHAR, Feb 7: The leaders from the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) and Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) urged the central government to expedite proper implementation of the Bodo and Karbi Accords in the state.

They also urged the 125th constitutional amendment to the Sixth Schedule, and the establishment of key institutions and projects in the region under the Special Development Packages for welfare and developmental aspects across the region.

A joint delegation team representing both of the BTR and KAAC, under the leadership Pramod Boro, the CEM of Bodoland Territorial Region, Tuliram Ronghang, and accompanied by MPs Dilip Saikia, Joyanta Basumatary, Anarsing Tisso and ABSU president Dipen Boro, met Union minister of state for Home Affairs, Nityananda Rai at North Block in New Delhi, in the presence of Union minister of state for External Affairs Ministry, Pabitra Margherita.

The meeting was a productive one which was held on Thursday evening that discussed at length on the proper implementations of the Bodo Peace Accord and Karbi Anglong Accords with letter and spirit.

Both the council leaders, have urged the ministers to take bold initiatives to expedite implementation of all clauses of Bodo and Karbi accords, the 125th Constitutional Amendment to the Sixth Schedule, and the establishment of key institutions and projects in our region under the Special Development Package

“Had the privilege of meeting Union minister of state for home affairs, Shri Nityanand Rai Ji yesterday, at North Block, New Delhi, in presence of Hon’ble MoS, MEA, Shri Pabitra Margherita Ji on Thursday evening. We had a constructive discussion on the expedited implementation of the Bodo and Karbi Accords, the 125th Constitutional Amendment to the Sixth Schedule, and the establishment of key institutions and projects in our region under the Special Development Package”, CEM Pramod Boro said.
