Eight cow lifters apprehended in Biswanath

BISWANATH CHARIALI, April 27: A police team headed by ASP and DSP from the office of the Superintendent of Police, Biswanath and a team from Sootea PS headed by Trilochan Das, officer in-charge managed to apprehend seven cattle lifters and a secret agent of the gang of the cattle thieves were apprehended on Saturday late evening.

They were identified as Shariful Islam (28), Ghahigaon, Mehbub Ali (29), Ghahigaon, Mojibur Sarkar (40), Sadai Borah Village, Anowar Hussain (27), Bhuyanpara, Nur Haque Ali (35), Kherbari, Mahesh Khodal (36), No 2 Tangia, Bolaram Majhi (45), No 2 Tangia along with an agent Jun Ali (28), Saraijania. The police team recovered two recovered cattle heads from their possessions.

It is pertinent to mention here that a total of seven cattle heads were stolen from the house holders of Khanaguri village here on April 25. Sootea police faced an outrage of the local residents due their failure in checking the growing cattle theft cases.

As per the demand of the local victim residents and local conscious people, the Biswanath police in collaboration with Sootea police had carried out a strict search operation on April 26 and managed to apprehend seven cattle lifters and an agent.

The victim families and the conscious people have praised the timely action undertaken by Biswanath police. The police team registered a case bearing Case number 39/2025 US 61(2)/305(a)/317(4)/3(5) of BNS 2023 and booked them behind the bar.
