11 Illegal Bangladeshi, including children, detained in Tripura border village

AGARTALA, May 9: A total of 11 Bangladeshi nationals, including four children, were detained by Tripura Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday morning while attempting to cross the international border through the Srinagar area in Sabroom Sub-division of Tripura’s South District on Friday.

According to police sources, the group was initially apprehended by local villagers who found them hiding in an abandoned house belonging to one Dhananjay Debnath at Karlia Tila, under the jurisdiction of Krishnanagar Gram Panchayat in Poangbari RD Block. The villagers promptly handed them over to the authorities.

Sources revealed that the detained individuals had travelled from Gujarat and were trying to cross into Bangladesh. The group includes three men, four women, and four children.

The detainees have been identified as Monish Sidhar (40), Muniya (12), Nashreen Begam, Ratul Mir Dha (4), Rahim (12), Ahmad Seikh (34), Seema (28), Tarun Seikh (2), Limo (18), Md Isha Seikh (21), and Arafat Seikh (2).

“We have taken them into custody and will be producing them before the court to seek police remand for further interrogation,” a police official said.
