AGARTALA, Aug 4: The Border Security Force deployed in Tripura has detained three Bangladeshi nationals and one Indian tout in separate operations in the last 24-hours.
A press release issued from BSF Tripura on Saturday, reads that on August 2 BSF troops deployed along International Border in general area of Jaynagar of Agartala under West Tripura District observed movement of 4 to 5 Bangladeshi Nationals at about 2140 hrs and again at about 2330 hrs coming from Bangladesh side towards the Fence with an intention to illegally infiltrate into Indian territory.
“Observing the movement alert BSF troops promptly reacted to the situation and fired Stun Grenades( Non Lethal ) on being fired upon Bangladeshi Nationals fled back into Bangladesh. In an another case, movement of 2 Bangladeshi nationals was detected while trying to cross the border fence with intention to enter into Indian territory from general area of Lankamura of Agartala under West Tripura District. Alert BSF troops nabbed them before they could negotiate the border fence”, said BSF.
In a separate case, BSF patrol party apprehended 1 Bangladeshi national while he was trying to negotiate border fencing in the area of BOP Yakubnagar under Dharmanagar of North District Tripura.
“In an intelligence based operation led by BSF troops along with GRP Agartala, one notorious Indian tout, Rupan Miya was apprehended in general area of Nischintapur under West District of Tripura. Rupan Miya was wanted in various cases for facilitating illegal migrants from Bangladesh to India. BSF had him under surveillance and was under close watch. On specific input BSF troops along with GRP apprehended him from his village Madhya Charipara of Nischintapur under West District of Tripura. He has been further handed over to GRP Agartala for further legal action. His links with Bangladeshi touts are being investigated,” the BSF said.
