GUWAHATI, May 17: Nanavati Max Super Speciality Hospital, Mumbai, has announced the launch of its exclusive Oncology, Hepatology, and Gastroenterology OPD services at multiple locations in Guwahati. The initiative aims to offer advanced medical consultation and early diagnosis for liver and gastrointestinal conditions in the region.

According to an official statement, the OPD services were inaugurated in the presence of Dr Ganesh Nagarajan, Director – Hepatobiliary Pancreatic & Gastrointestinal Oncosurgery, and Dr Gaurav Chaubal, Director – HPB Surgery, Liver and Multi-Organ Transplant, both from Nanavati Max Hospital, Mumbai.

As part of the new services, Dr Nagarajan will consult at Trinitas Medharbor Superspeciality Healthcare & Diagnostics, VIP Road, Six Mile, while Dr Chaubal will be available at Aaryan Gastrointestinal Clinic, Ganeshguri.

Both specialists will be accessible for consultations on the third Friday of every month from 3 PM to 4 PM.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ganesh Nagarajan said, “Clinical observations show a rise in specific types of cancers in Guwahati, largely due to tobacco use, dietary habits, and environmental influences.

Due to limited awareness and clinical expertise, many symptoms go unnoticed, leading to delayed diagnosis and poor outcomes. Our aim is to enable early detection and offer advanced treatment options to improve patients’ quality of life.”

Dr Gaurav Chaubal highlighted the growing burden of liver disease, stating, “Genetic predisposition, sedentary lifestyles, and environmental factors are contributing to a steady rise in liver disorders across India. If left untreated, these can lead to complications such as liver failure. Our new OPD services in Guwahati will allow timely screening, especially for high-risk individuals, and help raise the standard of care in liver and gastroenterology.”

The doctors also urged the public to be aware of key warning signs of HPB and gastrointestinal cancers, such as jaundice, dark urine, pale stools, abdominal swelling, unexplained weight loss, fatigue, vomiting, and easy bruising—symptoms that demand immediate medical attention.

This expansion is part of Nanavati Max Hospital’s broader initiative to decentralise specialized healthcare.
