MARGHERITA, June 12: To mark the World Day Against Child Labour, the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) and the All India Youth Federation (AIYF) jointly organised an awareness programme in Ledo under the 83rd Margherita constituency in Tinsukia district on Thursday.
The event saw active participation from leaders and members of both organisations.
Among those present were Hemanta Gogoi, President of the AIYF Tinsukia District Committee, Secretary Bijendra Gogoi, and Sanjeev Ganguly, Assistant Secretary of the All India Kisan Sabha Assam State Council, who addressed the gathering on the urgent need to eliminate child labour.
Speakers highlighted the dangers of child labour and stressed the importance of child rights, access to education, and the collective responsibility of society towards ensuring the healthy development of children.
They pointed out the increasing prevalence of child labour in tea gardens, hotels, dhabas, fabrication units, and as domestic help.
Sanjeev Ganguly emphasized the need for public awareness and strict government intervention, stating that everyone must remain vigilant and that strong legal action should be taken against those employing children in violation of the law.
