The meeting focused on the progress and implementation of three flagship welfare schemes — Orunodoi 3.0, Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Assam, and the Women Entrepreneurship Mission.

The session was attended by Tezpur MLA Prithiraj Rabha, Rangapara MLA Krishna Kamal Tanti, Barchala MLA Ganesh Kumar Limbu, along with senior officials of the district administration and members of the District Monitoring Committee overseeing the schemes’ implementation.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Hazarika emphasized the government’s commitment to inclusive development and instructed the administration to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left out. He reiterated the vision of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma to uplift every section of society through targeted welfare programs. He also directed the Deputy Commissioner to maintain strict monitoring and ensure timely completion of all project-related tasks.
Inspects Flood Mitigation Works in Balipara

Following the meeting, the Minister visited Balipara to inspect the ongoing erosion control and embankment strengthening works on the Jarasar River, which has long caused severe erosion and recurrent flooding, especially in the Dighali Balijan area under the Naduar constituency.
Minister Hazarika was accompanied by Naduar MLA Padma Hazarika and Rangapara MLA Krishna Kamal Tanti during the site inspection. He interacted with local residents and assured them of the government’s firm resolve to permanently address the flooding and erosion issues in the region.

The Water Resources Department is currently executing critical mitigation measures, including the installation of approximately 1,200 meters of Geo Mega Tubes, designed to both heighten and strengthen the embankments. Minister Hazarika informed the public that the use of Geo Mega Tubes has significantly enhanced the durability of the protection works, reducing the risk of future damage.

The visit highlighted the state government’s proactive approach in addressing long-standing environmental challenges and reaffirmed its dedication to the welfare of the people of Sonitpur.
