New DC Debashish Sarma interacts with media in Nagaon

NAGAON, June 28: Debashish Sarma, the newly appointed Deputy Commissioner of Nagaon, interacted with members of the local media fraternity during a programme held at the DC’s office conference hall on Saturday.

The interaction was organised to provide a platform for a get-together and exchange of views between the Deputy Commissioner and the media.

Sarma was felicitated during the programme by the Nagaon Press Club, Nagaon Electronic Media Association (NEMA), and the Nagaon Print Media Association with traditional Assamese gamuchas and a bouquet of books.

Members of the media present at the event introduced themselves and highlighted several issues of concern in the district, particularly in the sectors of education, social welfare, and healthcare.

In his address, the Deputy Commissioner expressed his commitment to working with sincerity and dedication for the welfare of the district.

He assured the media that the issues raised during the interaction would be looked into and that every effort would be made to bring about improvements.

Emphasising the need to contribute meaningfully to society, he quoted a line from a poem by Chandradhar Baruah, “Dhulikona Moi” (I am a speck of dust).

Sarma concluded his remarks by singing Dr. Bhupen Hazarika’s iconic song “Manuhe Manuhor Babe,” calling upon everyone to work collectively for the greater good of society.

The programme was attended by office-bearers and members of the Nagaon Press Club, NEMA, and the Nagaon Print Media Association, along with officials from the District Information and Public Relations Office.

The event began with a welcome speech by Mandira C Doley, District Information and Public Relations Officer, Nagaon, the official note added.
