Congress farmers’ wing protests in Jorhat

JORHAT, June 30: The Jorhat district unit of the Krishak Congress Committee, the farmers’ wing of the Indian National Congress, staged a protest on Monday against the alleged misuse of a government dairy scheme by families of a Cabinet Minister and an MLA from the ruling party.

The protesters, holding banners and placards, raised slogans accusing the government of depriving genuine dairy farmers by allowing those in power to benefit from the subsidy scheme meant for the public.

They also condemned a derogatory remark reportedly made by a Cabinet Minister when questioned about his family’s alleged involvement in availing benefits from the scheme.

The demonstration was conducted in line with directives from the Assam Pradesh Krishak Congress.
