The ceremony witnessed the presence of Chief Minister Pema Khandu, who released the official theme song for the golden jubilee, while Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein launched the commemorative badge symbolising the occasion.

Describing the Assembly as the “sacred temple of democracy,” he said it has become a beacon of hope, unity, and inclusive progress.

Paying tribute to visionary leaders, Speakers, Deputy Speakers, and Assembly officials, both past and present, the Governor emphasised their role in nurturing the institution with wisdom and commitment.

He described the Legislative Assembly as a proud symbol of transparency and representative governance.

Reflecting on the journey since 1975, the Governor noted the challenges faced in building the State from the ground up, amidst difficult terrain and scattered populations.

He said that through vision, perseverance, and people-centric legislation, the State has steered clear of the instability and insurgency seen in some neighbouring states, choosing instead a path of peace, inclusivity, and unity in diversity.

He added that Arunachal Pradesh is now undergoing a transformative phase, marked by better administrative outreach, improved service delivery, and more responsive and citizen-centric governance.

He commended the Assembly’s role in this transformation, noting that the passing of laws has been guided by a broader vision of good governance rooted in transparency, financial probity, and accountability.

Highlighting the successful implementation of the e-Vidhan system, the Governor underscored the importance of integrating technology at all levels of governance.

He called for decisive action toward achieving Sustainable Development Goals, with a focus on environmental sustainability, poverty alleviation, gender equality, and the empowerment of all communities.

The Governor urged legislators to prioritise key areas such as land reforms, solid waste management, hygiene, and sanitation.

He also stressed the need to formulate policies that empower women by upholding their rights, enhancing their public participation, and unlocking their leadership potential.

In a moving appeal to the House, the Governor reminded legislators of their moral responsibility toward the most vulnerable sections of society.

He urged them to frame legislation that protects and uplifts the marginalised, including the differently-abled and special children, stating that the soul of a State is judged by how it treats its most vulnerable citizens.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Speaker Tesam Pongte, and Deputy Speaker Kardo Nyigyor also addressed the gathering.

They shared reflections on the Legislative Assembly’s journey over the past five decades and articulated their aspirations for its future.

The inclusive spirit of the celebration was further reinforced by the participation of students from the Donyi Polo Mission School for Hearing and Visually Impaired, Chimpu, whose presence added a deeply meaningful touch to the inaugural event.
