KOKRAJHAR, July 4: The United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL)-led government of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) on Friday organised Beneficiary and Socio-Economic Awareness Programmes at Bhumki Part II in the Salakati BTC constituency and Habrubil in the Saraibil BTC constituency, with the aim of connecting grassroots beneficiaries to ongoing welfare initiatives.
According to officials, tens of thousands of people participated in the events, which sought to raise awareness about welfare schemes and the socio-economic development of the region’s citizens.
Pramod Boro, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), attended the programmes as chief guest.
In his address, Boro highlighted the positive impact of various welfare schemes launched by the Centre, the Assam government, and the BTR administration. He said these schemes had contributed to significant socio-economic progress across the region.
“Building a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) is our shared goal. Over the past 4.5 years, Gossaigaon and the entire Bodoland region have witnessed a visible transformation. It’s heartening to see government benefits reaching the most underprivileged sections of society,” Boro said.
The events were also attended by Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, Rajya Sabha MP Rwngwra Narzary, UPPL general secretaries Raju Kumar and Madhab Chetry, along with local leaders and administrative officials.
Community members participated actively in the programmes, with several sharing testimonials about the benefits received under key welfare schemes.
The initiative focused on improving communication between the public and policymakers, promoting transparency, and encouraging community involvement in the region’s developmental efforts.
