TEZPUR, July 5: The Asam Sahitya Sabha, the apex literary organisation of the state, is set to convene its second full-fledged executive session for the 2025–27 term on Sunday, July 6, at the Bongaigaon Refinery Binodan Kendra, Dhaligaon in Chirang district.
The meeting will be held as part of a day-long programme and is expected to deliberate on key issues related to the development of Assamese language, literature, and culture.
The executive session will be attended by Sabha president Dr. Basanta Kumar Goswami, vice president Padum Rajkhowa, principal secretary Debajit Bora, officials and executive members from all districts of Assam, as well as members and portfolio holders of the Sabha’s various sub-committees.
To facilitate the smooth conduct of the event, an organising committee has been constituted with Upen Roy as president and Dharmeswar Das as secretary.
Preparations are underway to welcome the delegates and ensure the successful execution of the session.
Principal Secretary Debajit Bora has requested all executive members, sub-committees, and office-bearers of the Sabha to confirm their participation in the meeting.
He also underlined the significance of the session in shaping future initiatives and policies for the preservation and promotion of Assam’s literary and cultural heritage.
During the session, the current issue of the Sabha’s official journal Patrika, the souvenir Sirang Jyoti, and several new books authored by Assamese writers will be released.
The Sabha is also expected to adopt several resolutions for the enhancement of literary and cultural activities across the state.
