NAGAON, July 8: Assam Minister of Panchayat and Rural Development and Tourism Ranjit Kumar Dass chaired a review meeting at the Commissioner’s Office in Nagaon on Tuesday evening to assess the implementation of various central and state government schemes.
According to an official press note, the meeting focused on key departments including Panchayat and Rural Development, Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission (ASRLM), and Tourism.

Dass reviewed the status of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) in each development block of the district and instructed Block Development Officers (BDOs) to complete the construction of houses by October 10 in consultation with local MLAs, Panchayat Secretaries, and Panchayat Presidents.
The Minister also took stock of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) implementation and suggested that Anganwadi centres be developed under the scheme.
He further reviewed progress under the Amrit Sarovar initiative and other district- and block-level projects.
Dass urged all departmental officials to accelerate pending work under the Tourism and ASRLM schemes, calling for timely and effective execution.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Keshab Mahanta also attended the meeting and stressed the importance of innovation and creative approaches at the block level.
He encouraged BDOs to collaborate with newly elected village panchayats and set strong examples through effective governance and implementation.
The meeting was also attended by District Commissioner Debashish Sarma, MLAs Rupak Sarma and Shashi Kanta Das, and senior officials from various departments.
