NAGAON, July 22: Four students from Nataraj Nritya Sadhana Kendra, Puranigudam, have brought laurels to Assam by winning accolades at a recently held international dance and music competition and festival in Sualkuchi.
The event was jointly organised by Nataraj Kala Kendra and Rivi International Organisation.
The students—Parineeta Bora, Binju Devi, Gainashree Bora, and Mananya Sarma—stood out among several participants for their impressive performances.
All four were honoured with the ‘Nritya Padma Sanmman’ in recognition of their artistic excellence and dedication to Indian classical dance.
In addition, Prachurya Baruah, another student of the institute, secured first place in the classical dance segment by performing Sattriya, one of the eight classical dance forms of India originating from Assam. His performance was widely appreciated by the judges and audience alike.
In a special recognition, Prachurya Baruah also presented the International Dance Guru Award to his mentor and instructor, Kankana Sarma, in acknowledgment of her contributions to promoting classical dance and nurturing young talent.
The achievements of the students have been hailed as a moment of pride not only for Puranigudam and Nagaon, but for the entire state of Assam.
Cultural enthusiasts and locals have extended congratulations to the students and their instructor for bringing honour to the region on an international platform.
