Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass reviews rural development, law, and tourism schemes in Jorhat

JORHAT, July 24: Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development, Law and Justice, and Tourism, Ranjeet Kumar Dass, on Wednesday chaired a comprehensive review meeting at the Jorhat Circuit House to assess the progress of departmental works being undertaken in Jorhat district.

According to a district administration official, the meeting was attended by senior officials of the district administration and representatives from departments under the Minister’s portfolio.

Dass took stock of various ongoing projects and instructed officials to ensure that all schemes and infrastructure works are completed within their stipulated timelines.

During the review, the Minister placed special emphasis on the ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin’ (PMAY-G), directing officials to complete the construction of around 8,000 houses under the scheme by September 30 this year.

He lauded the district officials and field staff for achieving a higher housing completion rate in Jorhat compared to the overall state average.

The Minister also reviewed the progress of several other key schemes including the ‘Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act’ (MGNREGA), ‘Amrit Sarovar’, and the ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan’ (Chief Minister’s Women Entrepreneurship Mission).

In addition, he took note of the ongoing initiatives being carried out by the Tourism Department in the district.

MLAs of Jorhat and Mariani constituencies, Hitendra Nath Goswami and Rupjyoti Kurmi respectively, were also present at the review meeting.

Following the official proceedings, Minister Dass visited the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district office in Jorhat and addressed a gathering that included 16 newly elected Zila Parishad members, party workers, and office bearers.

He urged the members to elect the Zila Parishad president and vice-president unanimously.

Dass also commended the party’s organisational strength for its performance in the recently concluded panchayat elections in Jorhat district, attributing the success to the BJP-AGP alliance under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
