DIPHU, July 25: Former Diphu MP and senior BJP leader Horen Sing Bey has been appointed as the president of the Scheduled Tribes (ST) Morcha of the Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
The BJP, Assam Pradesh, on Thursday announced new appointments to its various Morchas—frontal organisations responsible for mobilising specific communities and interest groups.
A total of eight new Morcha presidents have been named as part of the party’s internal restructuring.
The newly appointed Morcha chiefs are: Nilima Devi of Darrang (Mahila Morcha), Rakesh Das of Kamrup Rural (Yuva Morcha), Subhash Dutta of Dibrugarh (OBC Morcha), Nabarun Medhi of Guwahati (SC Morcha), Horen Sing Bey of Karbi Anglong (ST Morcha), Pankaj Borbora of Guwahati (Kisan Morcha), and Dulen Nayak of Jorhat (Tea Community Morcha).
Political observers view the reshuffle as a move to strengthen the BJP’s organisational machinery ahead of the 2026 Assam Assembly elections.
The appointments are expected to bolster grassroots mobilisation and consolidate support across diverse demographic segments.
