Half-burnt body recovered from crematorium

NAGAON, July 29: A partially burnt body was recovered from the Majarati crematorium in Nagaon town on Tuesday morning, triggering panic and speculation among local residents.

Personnel from the Haibargaon Police Outpost rushed to the site upon receiving information and recovered the body.

The remains were sent for post-mortem examination.

A bottle of kerosene oil was reportedly found near the body, raising suspicion that the deceased may have been murdered and the body set on fire in an attempt to destroy evidence.

The identity of the deceased had not been established at the time of filing this report. Investigation is underway, the statement added.
