NAGAON, Aug 3: The Nagaon district administration on Sunday organised a bike rally to spread awareness on road safety, traffic rules, and accident prevention.
The event was conducted under the District Road Safety Committee in collaboration with Motorhead United MC Assam and the Nagaon IMFL Retailer Association.
Flagged off from the Deputy Commissioner’s office, the rally covered Nagaon town, Jakhalabandha and Bagori before returning to Nagaon.
Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management Keshab Mahanta, local MLA Rupak Sarma, Deputy Commissioner Devashish Sarma and Superintendent of Police Swapnanil Deka were present at the rally.
At Jakhalabandha bus stand, Mahanta underscored the importance of road safety as a collective social responsibility and spoke on steps taken by the government to improve road infrastructure and enforce traffic regulations.
DC Devashish Sarma appealed to the public to strictly adhere to traffic rules for their own safety.
As part of the programme, essential equipment was handed over to forest staff of Kaziranga National Park’s Bagori, Burhapahar and Ghorakhati ranges to support wildlife protection.
Another awareness meeting was held at Kuthari Tiniali — a road accident-prone zone — focusing on speed control and cautious driving.
