The incident took place at ‘Nagaon Dhaba’ under the jurisdiction of Itachali Police Outpost.

According to eyewitnesses, locals apprehended a young man and a woman at the spot, alleging their involvement in objectionable activities.

Several others reportedly fled the premises during the raid.

The residents also claimed to have recovered objectionable materials from the location.

Following the alert raised by the public, police reached the site and brought the situation under control.

The dhaba owner, along with the detained individuals, was taken into custody for further questioning.

Locals said they had been raising concerns over alleged illegal liquor trade and other suspected activities at the dhaba for some time, but no decisive action had been taken.

They accused the police of inaction despite repeated complaints.

Residents have now called on authorities to initiate strict measures against eateries found to be engaging in or facilitating such practices.

They also named other establishments — including ‘Signet’, ‘New Beautiful Restaurant’, and ‘Atithi Dhaba’ in Rupahi Oruna under Rupahihat Police Station — which, according to them, face similar allegations.

The incident has led to widespread public concern, with citizens urging law enforcement agencies to step up surveillance and enforcement in the area.
