AGARTALA, Aug 7: Tripura witnessed a normal monsoon pattern in July 2025, marked by 26 rainy days, according to the latest report from the Meteorological Department in Agartala.
The report outlined that monsoon activity in the state varied throughout the month—vigorous on two days, active on four, normal on thirteen, and weak on twelve days. Despite these fluctuations, rainfall remained within the normal range.
Quantitatively, the state recorded 449.9 mm of rainfall in July, surpassing the average monthly norm of 379.8 mm. This represents a positive departure of 18 percent, indicating a healthy spell of monsoon activity.
Cumulatively, Tripura received 850.9 mm of rainfall up to July 31—considered the halfway mark of the monsoon season. This total reflects a 6 percent surplus over the normal seasonal average of 805.7 mm.
Among the individual rainfall stations, Mohanbhog in Sepahijala district recorded the highest rainfall during the month, with an impressive 825.6 mm. The highest single-day rainfall was recorded in Belonia, South Tripura, which experienced a deluge of 295.0 mm on July 9.
District-wise, Sepahijala emerged as the wettest, receiving 579.1 mm of rainfall—marking a substantial 47 percent increase over the norm. In stark contrast, Unakoti district experienced the driest conditions, registering only 225.4 mm of rainfall, which is 34 percent below the average.
On the temperature front, Agartala Airport logged the month’s highest maximum temperature at 36.1°C on July 23. The average mean maximum temperature across the month stood at 32.6°C, which is marginally above normal, with a departure of 0.5°C.
Despite the varying intensities of rainfall across different districts, the Meteorological Department noted that Tripura’s overall monsoon performance in July remained steady and within normal limits.
