DIPHU, Aug 14: The Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan, a national mission aimed at transforming grassroots governance in tribal areas, will be launched in Karbi Anglong district in the last week of September 2025, according to an official statement.
The announcement was made during a press briefing at the District Commissioner’s Conference Hall this evening, addressed by Additional Deputy Commissioner Gopal Sharma, Deputy Secretary of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Angtang Tisso, and ACS officer Udipta Bora.

The Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan, spearheaded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, seeks to reimagine governance in tribal-dominated areas by fostering a responsive grassroots cadre.
It is designed to ensure that essential services reach tribal citizens directly and efficiently, while also promoting sustainable development and community leadership.
Nationally, the programme targets the creation of 20 lakh committed change leaders across 1 lakh tribal villages in 30 states.
In Karbi Anglong, the initiative will cover 346 tribal villages. Each village team will comprise 5–10 trained tribal youth, who will work to bridge the gap between the government and the community by spreading awareness about government schemes and facilitating their implementation.
As part of the campaign, State-Level Master Trainers and District-Level Trainers—along with officials from departments such as Panchayat and Rural Development, Tribal Affairs, Social Welfare, and Forestry—will undergo specialised training.
This training will focus on convergence strategies, tribal context, digital tools, and leadership skills.
The trained personnel will subsequently hold district-level sessions to prepare teams for village-level engagement. District-Level Trainers, drawn from local change agents, will be supported by Block-Level Master Trainers in all seven blocks of the district.
These trainers will serve as the frontline of the programme, ensuring on-ground implementation, mentoring teams, collecting and analysing field data, and relaying feedback for responsive governance.
Officials said the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan in Karbi Anglong aims to strengthen participatory governance, encourage local leadership, and adapt government initiatives to local needs.
By aligning policy implementation with tribal ethos and priorities, the mission is expected to build a lasting framework for inclusive and effective governance in the region.
