Pre-Solung Festival celebrated with traditional fervour in Anini

ANINI, Aug 24: The Dibang Adi Family, Anini, celebrated the Pre-Solung Festival 2025 with great enthusiasm, drawing together community members, youth and dignitaries in a vibrant cultural gathering at Anini in Dibang Valley district.

According to an official statement, the event was graced by Mopi Mihu, MLA of Dibang Valley district and Advisor to the Ministers of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Geology, Mining & Minerals, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, as chief guest, while Dipen Molo, District BJP President, Dibang Valley, attended as guest of honour.

The programme began with the traditional Taku-Taabat Solung rituals performed by the Donyi-Polo priest, followed by the unfurling of the Solung Flag and the rendition of the Solung Anthem.

Welcoming the gathering, chief advisor of the Dibang Adi Family, Er Alom Apang, extended greetings to all participants.

President of the Pre-Solung Celebration Committee 2025, Nixon Danggen, underlined the cultural significance of Solung, calling it a celebration of tradition, community solidarity and heritage preservation.

A felicitation ceremony was also held in honour of the chief guest, guest of honour, and other dignitaries present.

Adding to the festivities, the prize distribution ceremony of the Pre-Solung Futsal Tournament 2025 was conducted. Antibiotic Avengers were declared champions, bagging ₹20,000 and a trophy, while Siire Football Club emerged as runners-up with ₹10,000. Special awards for best scorer, goalkeeper, best player, and recognitions for discipline and teamwork were also presented.

Addressing the gathering, both the Chief Guest and guest of honour lauded the Dibang Adi Family for promoting cultural values and fostering youth engagement through sporting and festive activities. The Pre-Solung Festival 2025 concluded on a note of unity, reaffirming the enduring traditions of the Adi community while blending reverence for heritage with the dynamism of modern celebrations.
