DIRANG, Aug 26: A massive landslide recently occurred along the Balipara-Chariduar-Tawang (BCT) National Highway, blocking traffic at Km 191.70 between Sapper Camp and Nyukmadung in Dirang subdivision.
According to an official statement, while no loss of life was reported, several vehicles sustained damage in the incident.
The landslide has caused severe disruption to surface communication in the region.
The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has deployed manpower and heavy machinery to clear the debris and restore traffic movement.
However, officials stated that the restoration work would take overnight to complete.
BRO personnel have been working continuously at the site since the incident, taking precautionary measures to ensure safety during the clearance operation.
Authorities have urged commuters to avoid unnecessary travel on the affected stretch and plan their journeys accordingly until the highway is reopened. The BRO has assured that all efforts are being made to minimise disruption and restore normal traffic flow at the earliest possible time.
