Guwahati, 11 Oct: Gauhati University has dismissed circulating claims against its administration and Vice Chancellor as “false and malicious.” The University said the allegations are baseless and intended to damage the reputation of the institution and its leadership. The statement was issued on October 10, emphasising that all operations comply with the Gauhati University Act, 1947, and Government of Assam regulations.
The University said financial, academic, and administrative activities follow due process, with accounts audited by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India. All expenditures are approved by the Finance Committee, Executive Council, and University Court, while procurement and construction
projects follow transparent mechanisms, including open e-tenders and public notifications.
Registrar Dr Utpal Sarma described the allegations as politically motivated and a reflection of frustration. He added that legal action has already been initiated against those responsible for circulating the statements. The University urged the public and media to rely only on information published through official channels.
