SIVASAGAR, Oct 22: The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samity (KMSS) and Chatra Mukti Sangram Samity (CMSS) on Wednesday concluded their 48-hour hunger strike in Sivasagar demanding early justice for Zubeen Garg and his bereaved family.

Addressing the gathering, Bidyut Saikia, Central Secretary of KMSS, criticised the BJP government for what he termed as its double standards in taking to the streets to demand justice for Zubeen.

He said the government has failed to ensure an impartial investigation into the mysterious circumstances surrounding the artist’s death.

Saikia also attacked Union Minister of State Pabitra Margherita, calling him a “dalal”, and alleged that the minister had a role in organising the North East Festival but has remained silent on Zubeen’s death case.

He further questioned the government funds granted to Festival Mahanta’s North East Festival and the appointment of Siddharth Sarmah as the Cultural In-charge of BJP Yuva Morcha.
