GUWAHATI, Oct 30: In a befitting tribute to the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the District Administration, Cachar is all set to organise a grand “Padyatra” (Unity March) on the occasion of his 150th Birth Anniversary on 31st October, 2025, at Silchar. The event aims to celebrate the spirit of national unity, integration and the values of patriotism that Sardar Patel so firmly stood for.
The Unity March will commence from DSA, Silchar Sports Complex at 8:00 AM and culminate at Gandhi Bagh, traversing through key points of the town Khudiram Statue, DC Office Cachar, Soni Mandir Point, Janiganj, Nahatta Point, Premtola Point, Shillongpatty, Madhyasahar Point, DC Bungalow Point, before reaching its destination at Gandhi Bagh.
Over 1000 participants representing various walks of life including school and college students, government officials, members of the District Administration, social workers, NGOs, sports personalities, NSS and NCC volunteers, as well as prominent citizens, MPs and MLAs are expected to join this significant event. The enthusiastic participation from all communities reflects the district’s unwavering commitment to unity and collective progress.
Following the conclusion of the Padyatra, a cultural programme will be held at Gandhi Bagh, jointly organised by the District Administration, Cachar in association with district cultural affairs.
The programme will feature patriotic performances, songs and speeches dedicated to the life and contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, reminding citizens of his vision of a united and strong India.
The District Administration Cachar has extended a warm invitation to all citizens to join the Padyatra and pay homage to one of India’s greatest nation-builders, thereby reinforcing the message of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.”
