GUWAHATI, Oct 31: The birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, known as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, was honored at Janata Bhawan. Chief secretary Paban Kumar Borthakur led the proceedings by administering an oath to all officers and staff at 11 am. The oath served as a reiteration of their commitment to fortify the unity, integrity, and security of the nation.

The observance of Rashtriya Ekta Divas and National Unity Week extended from October 25th to October 31st, 2023, was spearheaded by the government of Assam. Its overarching vision was to instill awareness among the public through a series of events held across the state. As part of this initiative, pledge-taking ceremonies were conducted in various government offices throughout the state, including the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) for its officers and staff. The ceremonies aimed to reaffirm the collective dedication to fostering unity, integrity, and security within the nation.

 

Our Nagaon correspondent adds: The birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, celebrated as ‘Rashtriya Ekta Divas,’ was observed with great enthusiasm by the Nagaon district police administration, along with the participation of NCC cadets from 8 Assam Battalion.

A ceremonial march past, titled ‘Run for Unity,’ was organized by the district police administration throughout the town. The event witnessed over 150 NCC cadets from various educational institutions under the supervision of Colonel Amar Singh SM. Led by SP Navaneet Mahanta, the march past involved enthusiastic participation from cadets of ADP College, Nagaon, Nagaon Govt Boys’ HS School, Nowgong College, Haibargaon High School, along with NCC officials and other police officers.

Simultaneously, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Misa Military Station, marked the day as ‘Rashtriya Ekta Divas’ within its premises. The event began with the lighting of an earthen lamp at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s portrait by PK Sarma, the school’s principal. Teachers and students paid floral tributes to the revered leader, followed by a unity pledge during the morning assembly.

A ‘run for unity’ was organized, witnessing active participation from students, teaching, and non-teaching staff. PK Sarma, the principal, flagged off the unity run, emphasizing the importance of such programs for the unity, integrity, and development of the nation.

The programs held in Nagaon displayed a collective commitment to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s ideals and the significance of unity for the nation’s progress and integrity.

Our Kokrajhar correspondent adds: In the heart town of Bodoland Territorial Region, Kokrajhar, the National Unity Day was commemorated on Tuesday, in honor of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary, along with the rest of the state.

The day witnessed a tribute-paying ceremony dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, celebrating his pivotal role in uniting and integrating communities across the country.

As part of the Unity Day festivities, the Kokrajhar Police administration organized a parade and band display at the Kokrajhar Govt Higher Secondary and Multipurpose School playground. Superintendent of Police, Pushpa Raj Singh, inspected the guard of honor and saluted the courageous march-past by police personnel. Singh also administered the National Unity Day pledge to the police force, emphasizing Patel’s significant contribution to national unity and integrity.

Singh highlighted Patel’s dedication and tireless efforts towards fostering unity across diverse communities, underscoring the significance of commemorating Patel’s sacrifice and commitment to the nation.

Meanwhile, NTPC Bongaigaon Salakati also marked the National Unity Day at its project complex. The occasion witnessed a tribute-paying ceremony to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, honoring his legacy as the Iron Man of India.

Karunakar Das, the Chief General Manager (CGM) of NTPC Bongaigaon, led the National Unity Day pledge administration among all employees, encouraging a commitment to the unity and integrity of the nation.

Additionally, a “Run for Unity” event was organized to commemorate the visionary leader’s birth anniversary, flagged off by Das, symbolizing unity and solidarity among the participants.

The day’s celebrations in both Kokrajhar and NTPC Bongaigaon Salakati stood as a testimony to the respect and homage paid to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s enduring contribution to the unity and integrity of the nation.

 

Our Hojai correspondent adds: The Hojai district administration, in sync with the entire nation, solemnly observed National Unity Day at the district headquarters in Sankardevnagar, Hojai. District commissioner Lachit Kumar Das paid profound tribute to the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, on the occasion of his birth anniversary. Floral tributes were offered by all additional commissioners in attendance.

The ceremony concluded with an oath-taking session, conducted by Jayanto Bora, the additional commissioner, where all present participants reaffirmed their commitment to the ideals of unity and integrity.

The observation of National Unity Day stands as a mark of respect and remembrance for Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s significant contributions to the unity and integrity of India, emphasizing the importance of unity in diversity across the nation.

Furthermore, in response to a circular from the Women and Child Welfare Department of the Government of Assam, SOS Children Villages of Guwahati observed ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ (National Unity Day) on Tuesday to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the architect of India’s national integration, as highlighted in a press release.

The program featured a morning rally (Prabhat Pheri) and an oath-taking ceremony. In a statement, SOS Children’s Village expressed gratitude to the local community and the police administration for ensuring the safety and security of the children during the rally and for their active participation in the oath-taking ceremony. The participation of local residents and law enforcement personnel contributed to the success and safety of the event.

 

An NFR release added: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) on October 31, 2023, at the Northeast Frontier Railway Sports Association (NFRSA), Maligaon, in honor of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, revered as the Iron Man of India. Notably, all five divisions of N.F. Railway also commemorated this significant day in a remarkable manner.

The observance commenced with a pledge-taking ceremony led by Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, the General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway, at NFRSA. Lighting a lamp and offering floral tributes to the portrait of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the General Manager administered a pledge emphasizing oneness and integrity to all participants. In his address, the General Manager highlighted the visionary statesmanship and the unwavering dedication of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, shaping the destiny of the nation.

As part of the day’s events, a ‘Run for Unity’ was flagged off by the General Manager from the NFRSA stadium in Maligaon. The run, starting at the stadium and concluding at the NFR Headquarter premises, witnessed enthusiastic participation from railway staff, officers, their families, sports persons, as well as RPF and volunteers of Scouts & Guides. The event, marked by fervor and zeal, reflected the collective commitment to the vision and purpose of the day’s celebration.

The tribute paid on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas stands as a homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s unwavering dedication and monumental contributions to India’s unity and integrity.
