Tezpur, October 31: Tezpur University, efforts are reportedly being made to weaken the ongoing protest against the Vice-Chancellor, which has continued for over a month. In an attempt to intimidate the protesting students and obstruct the movement, the university authorities under the direction of the Vice Chancellor formed a Vigilance Committee and issued certain directives.

It is noteworthy that such directives, which were never previously applicable to students, were suddenly enforced two days ago. The directive originally meant for administrative and financial transparency among academic and non-academic staff has now been made applicable to students as well.

According to the directive, students are prohibited from gathering for protests. As soon as this directive reached the students, anger erupted across the campus. The protesting students, teachers, and staff took out a demonstration within the university premises, shouting slogans against the Vice-Chancellor and burning the directive.
